MxPx on the cover II

mxpx have announced and released the cover of their upcoming record, On the Cover II. i am extremely stoked for this release, not just because i’ve been a fan since i was in 8th grade (that was 1995 for those of you keeping track), not just because i loved the original On the Cover, not even because this is my favorite band. it’s a little more special this time around.

i was responsible for this album shoot. and it was my first full album shoot ever. sorta fitting that my first shoot was the band that really got me hooked on music.

the theme for this cover record was 80’s tunes. not like “new wave” but tracks from the 80’s. its actually a really rad mix of tracks (i can’t spoil the track listening yet!!!) so the idea conversation went a little like this:
me - “i think we should mock photos of all the bands you’re covering.”
mike - “i like it.”
tom - “that’s cool.”
me - “let’s do it.”

haha. that’s how hard it was. so after going back and forth with the dudes on the secret recordings, finding photos of each band, selecting the right one, and me flying to Bremerton this past summer to shoot, we accomplished a radical end product!!! march 24, 2009!
