i’m in South Africa!!!
hey friends and family….thank you for checking in! after 2 days of travel, yes that’s right….two flights….first was 11 hours, second was 11 and a half……we arrived in south africa. at our first stop i pulled out my trusty friend to snap a shot from a markets parking garage of the just risen sun…

today (while i’m writing) is just about the end of day two. we visited a few schools today, where These Numbers hopes to partner more and aid the different functions and needs these facilities have.
tonight we are heading to a soccer match to watch Anda, the first student TNHF has sent to college!
its been awesome so far. the team is gelling nicely, and we’re all so excited to be here working in the township of Guguletu. we’ve experienced amazing hospitality, were welcomed at a school today with singing, dancing and lots of hugs. the soccer players on JL Zwane are awesome and i really can’t wait to get my butt kicked by them (i’m sure some photos will surface from that event)
here are a few shots over the last 2 days….

one last photo (sorry, i’m a little overzealous with photos in this post…..) but i wanted to post this…

we drive past these nuclear bad boys twice a day….so don’t hate me when i come back to the states with super powers.
maybe i’ll be able to fly….

Sounds like an amazing trip. You guys are doing something really great. And I love the pics. If you gain the ability to fly, you’d better get a cape! I already have mine but alas, no radioactive meteors or experiments gone awry yet.

Lovely photos, and good to see people coming to the country and not just doing the usual tourist thing. You don’t have to worry about those nuclear bad boys - they’re defunct cooling towers for an old power station in Athlone - their biggest use is as a landmark to know when to turn off to Pinelands!
I run South Africa Travel Online and each week we choose a blog of the week - this week it’s you (which puts you in the running for blog of the month). We linked to you from our newsletter named SAA Durban - Johannesburg. Keep the photos rolling!
